Supta Vajrasana
(The Supine Thunderbolt Pose)
For 15-75 breaths One round Normal breathing

Contra-Indications

Stiff knees and ankle joints.

Starting Pose Sit with legs together and outstretched and the hands by the sides of the body. .
Technique

Sit in Vajrasana as described earlier. Then keep the palms on the floor on the respective sides close to the soles, fingers pointing towards knees. Then place the elbows on the floor, supporting the upper part of the body. Slowly be supine on the floor. Cross the arms and place them below the head in such a way that the palms grasp the opposite shoulders. Close the eyes. Apply the Conscious Differential Relaxation technique and do Pranadharana.

Releasing the Pose

Open the eyes, remove the crossed arms below the head and with the support of the elbows, raise the upper part of the body to the Vajrasana stage & later, release the legs one after the other to assume the starting pose.

Benefits Improves functions of the abdominal organs. Knees and ankle joints become flexible and arthritis is prevented. Improves the lungs and helps asthma and bronchitis patients.
